To bring Ben to your area: 

  •  Contact our office for availability or check out his  Appearance Schedule to see when he might be close to you.  We suggest that checking on availability be done a year in advance.  At times however, there are last minute cancellations so please don't hesitate to call.                                                                       

  • We will send an informational packet to you that includes more details about an author visit as well as information on the honorarium fee etc..

  • Once all is agreed upon a 'Terms of Agreement' will be sent for you to sign and return.                                                                                               

  •  Add the date to the schools calendar and begin preparation for Ben's visit! 
To get the most out of the visit:                                             

 First and foremost we believe the key to a successful visit is communication and preparation!  Please call with any questions you may have!                                               

  •  Decide how book sales will be handled up to  6 months in advance.  All of Ben's books can be ordered directly from Ben, his publishers, or through your local book supplier.                               
  •  Place your book orders up to  3 months in advance.                  
  •  Excite the teachers and students for Ben's visit by sharing his biographical information as well as his web site.                             
Ben requires that each student attending his talk read or have read to them at least one of his books.  Being familiar with the authors work is what makes the magical connection between the story and the creator of that story.                                                       
  •  Notify parents of author visit in advance.                                                                                             
  • A checklist that detail's equipment needs (carousel style slide projector etc.), scheduling suggestions and a pre-order book form will be sent along with the 'Terms of Agreement' to help you prepare both your schedule and day.                                                                                  
  • Send home the pre-order book form with the date the students need to return them by,  2 weeks in advance.

          

  • Notify Ben of the day's schedule and all arrangements that have been made...hotel, transportation, directions and contact people, 2 weeks in advance.                                                                         
  •  Be sure all required paperwork is completed for Ben to receive payment on the day of his visit.                                                     
  •  Relax, have fun and enjoy the visit!!  The goal of an author visit is to encourage reading and writing.  Oftentimes Ben's presentations generate more book sales.  Think how you would like to handle post sales. Ben can sign and send bookplates.
